The Coldwater City Council approved selling the vacant lot at 136 South Clay Street to a local buyer for $5,000, the third attempt to transfer the parcel since the city acquired and demolished the prior structure.
Keith, the city manager, outlined the lot’s history: the city acquired and demolished a house on the site and had previously worked with Habitat for Humanity on two occasions to facilitate single-family construction; when that organization ceased, the city reacquired the lot. An offer from Judy Vladimir for $5,000 had been introduced at the March 31 council meeting and sat for the required 30 days before council consideration.
A motion to approve the sale (agreement number 2509 as presented to council) was made and seconded; the clerk conducted a roll-call vote. The clerk read votes as yes for the council members present; the mayor declared the motion carried and the sale approved. Councilmembers recorded support in the roll call and the motion carried.
Staff will proceed with the sale paperwork and record the conveyance per council authorization.
