Stephanie Burdick, the city’s community engagement coordinator, presented the Community Engagement Department’s 2024 annual impact report at the Jan. 13 meeting, detailing outreach, marketing and partnership work the department handled last year.
Burdick said the department — a shared city and BPU function — executed a mix of marketing, documentation and event engagement. Highlights included $25,000 in sponsorships and donations paid to 23 organizations, 607 paid and unpaid employee hours at 74 community events, five mutual aid responses, nine awards (including reliable public power recognition and two awards from the American Public Power Association for communications), and collection of 119 units of blood at city-coordinated drives.
Burdick described routine and special communications work, from social-media content and website updates to printed materials and program brochures for the recreation department. She also credited staff generosity: employees donated more than $10,000 to local causes through payroll deductions and other efforts.
Council members thanked Burdick for the report; no follow-up actions were requested.
