On Sept. 9 a resident reported that about 314 households around the Skylonda area experienced five distinct PG&E power outages over two months, some occurring on clear, calm days. The resident said one outage also disabled cellular service for some customers and urged the town to demand a transparent investigation into the state of the local grid.
Town Manager Jason Ledbetter told the council the town can elevate concerns to PG&E through its government‑affairs contact but that the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is the regulator that oversees utility performance and reliability. Ledbetter encouraged residents to file complaints with the CPUC so regulators have a public record.
Why it matters: Repeated unplanned outages can endanger residents who rely on medical equipment or refrigerated medication and interrupt critical communications during emergencies.
What’s next: Town staff said they will notify PG&E’s government affairs office and recommend residents document outages with the CPUC so regulators can assess whether an investigation or remedial action is required.
