Fraser Beautification Club to host ‘‘Toodle’’ garden tour, starts pollinator project at Stephens Park wedge

At the July 1 meeting, a representative of the Fraser Beautification Club described a July 17 ‘‘toodle tour’’ at Miss Mary’s Garden on Garfield Road, a new pollinator-planting project at the wedge near Stephens Park and ongoing fundraising and volunteer recruitment.
"Our first event is coming up on July 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. It will be at Miss Mary's Garden, which is on Garfield Road in Fraser," the Beautification Club representative said, describing light refreshments, a take-home craft and seed packets for attendees.
The club said it has planted five new native species at the wedge and plans a small water feature to support pollinators. The representative thanked the Department of Public Works for helping water the new plants and said the group hopes DPW will connect a water supply so volunteers won't have to hand-water the site.
Tickets and information were described as available through the club's Facebook page and by emailing fraserbeautificationclub@gmail.com. The representative said the club is seeking volunteers and new members and will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. on July 23 at Grama Horn.
No formal action by the commission was taken on Beautification Club projects at the July 1 meeting; the club's representative requested volunteers and coordination with city crews for irrigation and maintenance.
