The Norwalk Bike Walk Commission discussed planning for Walk/Bike/Roll to School Day scheduled for Oct. 8, 2025, and said they will coordinate with Norwalk Public Schools and the Safe Routes to School program. Manny, a commissioner, described recent outreach at South Norwalk events and said next steps include “reconnect[ing] with the people from the school district and the transportation” to identify which school(s) to host the event.
Commissioners noted that last year the commission worked with multiple schools and with partners such as Nuvance Health, and they said they will invite prior collaborators back. Emily said Safe Routes staff (Bridget Moriarty) offered educational print material and audit data and that the commission can access printed materials for student outreach.
Members proposed reviving the commission’s education subcommittee to plan the event and produce outreach materials. Commissioners agreed to schedule planning meetings in the coming weeks, recruit volunteers and to coordinate with school-district staff for route and safety approvals. No formal budget vote occurred at the Sept. 8 meeting.
