Becca Stoll, a commissioner, told colleagues that the city’s 2012 Bike-Ped Master Plan, the Complete Streets design guide and the 2022 TMP plan need to be reconciled and centralized. “I think there's a lot of work to be done here because we are still, in theory, beholden to this plan that might not make sense anymore because it was done in 2012,” Becca said, and offered to take point on aggregating audits and updates.
Emily, the commission chair, noted the city’s sustainability- and bicycle-league certification goals as an opportunity to update the plan and suggested bringing a master-plan update to the commission’s next quarterly meeting with TMP. Commissioners said staff from TMP and the Safe Routes to School program have relevant audit data and could be invited; Bridget Moriarty (Safe Routes to School) and TMP staff were identified as resource contacts.
Commissioners recalled that a prior vote had directed a review of the commission’s ordinance to clarify responsibilities, and they said they will prepare suggested updates to present to the incoming council after the November election. Becca asked for a follow-up report next month on ordinance review timing and options; the commission did not take a formal vote on ordinance text at the Sept. 8 meeting.
Becca said she would “run point” on aggregating plan data but requested staff support and access to city documents. The commission agreed to schedule the master-plan discussion at its next quarterly TMP meeting.
