Gardena council confirms three community appointments and swears in appointees

For the Youth Commission nomination of Kyle Chin, Councilmember Tanaka moved, and Mayor Pro Tem Henderson seconded; the motion was approved 5–0. For Giovanni Rivera, Councilmember Love moved and Councilmember Francis seconded; the vote passed 5–0.
Swearing-in: The city clerk administered the oath of office at the meeting immediately after each vote. New commissioners signed their oaths and were congratulated on the council dais. Councilmembers noted the value of commission service and welcomed the new members.
Why it matters: Commission appointments populate advisory bodies that review city programs, provide community input and undertake specialized duties for the council.
