The Brockton City Council on Sept. 8 accepted and placed on file a $1.6 million grant award from the MassWorks Infrastructure Program to the planning department for road and park design in the Trump Brook redevelopment area.
A communication from the mayor recommended the council authorize the acceptance and expenditure of the grant. The clerk read the recommendation into the record. "This transfer will be used for the road and park design for Trump Brook redevelopment area," the council packet stated.
Councilors voted to accept the communication and place it on file; the matter was ordered to finance for administrative processing. The communication and related CFO materials were recorded in the council packet.
The MassWorks program provides state funding for municipal infrastructure projects; the council did not vote on construction contracts at the Sept. 8 meeting. The acceptance authorizes the city to receive and expend the grant funds through the planning department and routes the grant to finance for appropriation steps required under Chapter 44 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
