Councilor Coley moved to approve the increase and the council voted in favor (roll call: Coley: yes; Penomares: yes; Medina: yes; Byers: yes; Parra Miller: yes).
Why it matters: The rate increase will affect residential and commercial customers served by the franchise and is implemented under the terms of the city’s franchise agreement. Staff did not identify a local subsidy to offset the increase.
Implementation: Staff will notify Recology and the county assessor per normal franchise and billing procedures; customers will see the adjusted rates as outlined by Recology’s tariff and the city’s billing schedule.
