The Talent City Council on June 4 opened the public hearing on proposed text amendments to the Talent Comprehensive Plan and Talent Municipal Code, files CPA 2025-001 and DCA 2025-001, and voted to continue the hearing to a date certain: July 16 at 6:45 p.m.
Staff explained the planning commission had begun and continued its own hearing on the same items and had not yet completed its recommendations. City staff asked the council to open the noticed public hearing and continue it to avoid repeating published notices already sent to DLCD (Department of Land Conservation and Development), property owners and agencies. Staff said continuing the hearing preserved the previously published notices so the city would not have to re-notice the matter.
Councilor Penomares moved to continue the hearing to July 16 at 6:45 p.m.; the motion carried on roll call (Cooley: yes; Penomares: yes; Medina: yes; Byers: yes; Parra Miller: yes).
Why it matters: Land-use code and comprehensive-plan text amendments affect development rules and land-use policy. State notice procedures and DLCD notification requirements must be followed; continuing the hearing preserves existing notice and avoids the need to reissue public notice.
Next steps: The council will take up the continued public hearing on July 16 after it receives the planning commission’s recommendation and any additional staff materials.
