Council awards remaining $587 in Community Improvement Grant funds to Stayton Soccer Club for youth equipment

The Stayton City Council on June 16 approved Resolution 25‑020 to allocate the remaining $587 from the 2024–25 community improvement grant fund to the Stayton Soccer Club.
Jennifer Cicliano reported that $17,000 had already been awarded in April to four projects and that $587 remained. Staff contacted two applicants who had indicated interest: the Brown House, which declined the partial amount because it needed full funding for its project, and the Stayton Soccer Club, which confirmed it could use $587 to buy portable soccer goals and provide youth scholarships and that it would not use the money for coach stipends. Cicliano said recipients would purchase items by June 30 and submit receipts for reimbursement.
Councilor Ward moved to award the remaining $587 to the Stayton Soccer Club for spending by June 30, 2025; the motion carried 4–0. Staff will verify receipts and the club’s final use of funds.
