City budgets $20,000 for next cycle of Community Improvement Grants; application window to open in September

Community and Economic Development Director Jennifer Siciliano told the council the city distributed nearly $14,600 in community improvement grants in FY2024–25 and will budget $20,000 for the FY2025–26 cycle. Siciliano reported nine proposals were submitted last cycle; council awarded funding to several projects including murals, theater stage work, holiday tree wreath repair and partial funding to a soccer club. She said the FY2025–26 allocation will be funded through the Marion County Community Prosperity Initiative (lottery proceeds) and that the application period will open in September, be due in November and come to council for awards in January to give recipients more time to complete projects. No council action was required; staff answered council questions about previous awards and reimbursement timing.
