Strongsville City Council on Aug. 5 adopted several ordinances in a special meeting called to consider administrative items.
The council voted to adopt Ordinance 20 25 62 authorizing a new collective-bargaining agreement between the city and the Fraternal Order of Police Parma Lodge 15 (sergeants and lieutenants unit) through Dec. 31, 2027. The motion to suspend the rules and adopt the ordinance passed on recorded roll call with the following votes recorded: Ms. Roff — yes; Mr. Spring — yes; Mr. Short — yes; Mr. Carbone — yes; Mr. Kaminski — yes; Ms. Kozak — yes; Mr. Clark — yes; Ms. Roth — yes.
Council also approved Ordinance 20 25 87, authorizing a contract for senior-center restroom renovations at the Walter F. Ernfeldt Recreation and Senior Center; and Ordinance 20 25 88, authorizing a grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Development for the Fultz Parkway extension Phase 2 project. Both measures were moved under suspension of the rules and adopted after roll-call votes; the record shows unanimous approval for each adopted ordinance.
Ordinance 20 25 63 (a separate police patrol officers unit contract) was placed on second reading and retained in committee. Ordinance 20 25 86 (the Chagrin Valley dispatch membership item) was placed on first reading and referred to committee for further review; that item was not adopted at the meeting.
Ending: The council adjourned and scheduled its next regular meeting for Sept. 2, 2025, when the public will have an opportunity to comment on items referred from this session.
