Representatives for a new business at 400 Broadway told the Design Review Board they will replace existing illuminated sign panels with new translucent acrylic panels and the board approved the replacement as presented.
The board's approval covers replacement of the existing backlit panels with new 3/16-inch white translucent acrylic panels bearing the tenant's graphics; the applicant said there is no enlargement or structural change to the existing sign openings.
Doug Navolinski said he was representing the new tenant and described the work: “we're gonna replace those panels that are, 96 inches by 20 inches, and we're gonna put brand new, 3 sixteenths white acrylic in there, translucent acrylic, because they're already illuminated in the back.” He said the change is a like-for-like replacement into existing illuminated sign openings and that one panel faces Bridal and one faces Forest Street. A board member confirmed there were no changes to sign size or additional signage requests.
The board moved and approved the panel replacement; members answered “aye” and the motion carried. Staff reminded the applicant to obtain outstanding building permits and said the applicant will receive a certificate of appropriateness after the meeting.
No amendments to the sign size or other storefront features were approved at the meeting.
