The demolition board on Aug. 21 continued the case for 615 West 20th Street after the owner, Silas Bucks, informed staff he underwent cervical surgery Aug. 19 and expects a recovery period of several weeks.

Building department staff reported regular communication with Bucks and said photos and permit-based electrical updates were included in the agenda. Staff noted inspections remain to be completed, but that Bucks has been regularly updating the building department.

Councilwoman Henley asked the board to show compassion given the owner’s recent surgery and consistent communication. The board voted to continue the case to allow the owner time to recover and to complete work.

Ending: Staff will follow up with Bucks when he is able to continue work and will schedule outstanding inspections as appropriate.
