The board approved multiple human-resources and compensation items on Aug. 5, including updated salary schedules for unrepresented/confidential classified and classified management employees and related memorandum(s) of understanding. Staff said the salary updates reflect a total 0.93% increase that follows a negotiated agreement affecting represented groups; the combined cost for the unrepresented groups shown in the packet is about $79,290. Staff also noted a technical change requested by CalPERS to include hourly rates for classified management and senior management groups to support retirement calculations. The board approved a related MOU to extend a me-too adjustment to the CSCA group consistent with the tentative agreement for represented employees. Staff explained the me-too provision had been agreed previously and the current action implements the associated salary schedule changes. Separately, the board approved a new parallel job description for the Director of Personnel position to broaden applicant eligibility to include non-school HR professionals who lack a school administrative credential but possess substantial personnel experience. The board also approved a revised job description for the behavior analyst position that now requires the specific licensure the county requested (master’s degree plus required licensure), rather than allowing an unspecified “equivalent” credential. Board members moved and seconded the items and passed them by voice vote. Staff said the changes are intended to attract a wider applicant pool for HR leadership roles and to align behavior-analyst hiring with county requirements.
