Representative Cobb visited the Eustis City Commission on Aug. 21 to present two state allocations that city officials said will support local projects. Cobb said one package — described as a $2,078,978 allocation — will support the Coolidge project at Rosenwald Gardens and the North Shore Bridge effort; a second award of $500,000 will go to the Trout Lake Nature Center education complex.
Cobb introduced legislative aide Eric Raimondo, district aide Faith and Ashley from Continental Strategies, which Cobb credited with substantial assistance securing the funds. At the podium Cobb said, "It is ... proud to present you a check for $2,078,978," and added that the Rosenwald Gardens project is the largest local effort in recent years. City leaders thanked Cobb and the senator’s office representatives for the support.
Commissioners and staff made no formal motions tied to the presentations; the items were ceremonial and informational. Mayor Hawkins and other commissioners expressed appreciation and noted staff and consultants would work to implement the awarded funding.
Why this matters: the state allocations add to local capital for historic‑site and nature‑education projects and will influence project timelines and design work. The commission recorded the awards on the public record; city staff will follow implementation and contracting steps for the awards.
