Deputy Chief O'Kalan reported Aug. 6 that the Orange Village Police Department reviewed pending liquor-permit renewals and found no adverse history meriting objection to renewals with the Ohio Division of Liquor Control. O'Kalan said the village routinely checks with police when renewals arise and that, under state law, municipal legislative authorities may object to a renewal if there is evidence of violations; in this case, the police reported no issues and no objection was submitted. O'Kalan referenced a prior occasion when the council considered objection to beer sales at a corner gas station but had no evidence to sustain an objection. Council took no further action on the item.
