MURRAY, Utah —1 Aug. 26 —1 The Murray City Board of Canvassers met Tuesday evening to review and certify the final results of the 2025 primary election; the board approved a resolution certifying the county-provided totals.
Brooke Smith, city recorder, reported the city had 28,412 active registered voters; 8,613 ballots were counted in the primary for a turnout of 30.3%, above the county average of 23.61%. Of counted ballots, 8,511 were returned via drop box or mail, 89 were cast in person within the county and 11 UOCAVA electronic ballots were returned. There were 124 challenged ballots of which 66 were not cured by the deadline; 120 ballots were returned after the postmark deadline and were rejected under new state rules requiring receipt by 8:00 p.m. on election day.
Smith reviewed vote totals for contested races and noted next steps: the city will publish results on its website, the county will post results and the lieutenant governor's office will receive certified returns. The board passed a resolution approving the final election results by motion and voice vote; the recorder said the city will file the certified results and publish notices as required.
Council and canvass board members thanked election staff and candidates for participating in the process.
