EUSTIS — The commission appointed Patricia Jensen, an alternate, to a full seat on the Code Enforcement Board and acted on several appointments to the Police Officers’ Pension Board during Tuesday’s meeting.
City Manager Tom explained the Code Enforcement Board seat was vacated by resignation and that the city had posted the vacancy; Patricia Jensen, who had served as an alternate, applied and was present at the meeting. The commission voted to appoint Jensen to the full seat.
On the Police Officers’ Pension Board, commissioners were asked to appoint two city-resident members to seats 1 and 2. The commission reappointed incumbent members Ken Berkhofer and Diane Thomas to the two city seats (Commissioner Holland moved the motion; the council approved by roll call). The commission also authorized staff to forward three names — Gary Windheim, Shakita Hill and Reginald Ward — to the pension board to be considered for the jointly appointed fifth seat, which the four board members (two residents and two police representatives) fill jointly.
Staff said the pension board has proposed changing its bylaws to extend member terms from two years to four years; staff will review the legal implications with the city attorney and return with recommendations.
Ending: The appointments complete immediate vacancies and send the city’s preferences to the pension board for its joint selection process.
