The Common Council approved special-use permits and site-plan reviews for two new commercial tenants: a UPS Store proposed at 7915 West Layton and an automotive glass business, Lake Carr Glass, at 4420 South 100th Street. Planning staff said the UPS Store will occupy about 1,300 square feet in a C4-zoned shopping center and would employ six full-time workers with hours planned from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily; the center requires 454 parking spaces, 397 are currently provided and council may waive the shortage. Planning Commission recommended approval July 8, and staff said a dumpster enclosure was planned and would be installed within 12 months. For Lake Carr Glass, planning staff said the tenant would use approximately 2,700 square feet in a C4-zoned property with one full-time employee and weekday and Saturday hours. No letters of support or objection had been filed for either application, staff said. Council members moved and approved both resolutions on roll-call votes. The council recorded unanimous approval for the UPS Store and Lake Carr Glass site-plan reviews.
