Magnolia — The Montgomery Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 6–1 to order a bond election to be held in November and authorized district administration to take the steps necessary to place the bond on the ballot.
At the meeting the board voted to call the election and to allow the district to proceed with required election procedures. Trustee Jordan moved to approve the order calling for the bond election and to authorize district administration to take any necessary steps; Trustee David seconded the motion and the board recorded a 6–1 vote in favor.
Trustees discussed that the proposed bond is intended to address projected student enrollment growth and to reduce reliance on portable buildings; staff said the district’s long-term fiscal position and low existing debt load support the timing of a bond election. The presenter said district capacity for debt is higher than the amount being proposed and that the tax rate would not change if voters approve the bond.
The board also approved a joint election agreement with Montgomery County and a contract for election services from the county for the Nov. 4, 2025 bond election. The joint election agreement was approved in a motion by Trustee Stacy, seconded by Trustee David; the contract for county election services was approved in a motion by Trustee Sonia, seconded by Trustee Dasha.
Motions recorded: approve order calling bond election and authorize administration to proceed (Motion by Jordan; seconded by David — motion passed 6–1), approve joint election agreement with Montgomery County (Motion by Stacy; seconded by David — motion passed), approve contract with Montgomery County for election services for the Nov. 4, 2025 bond election (Motion by Sonia; seconded by Dasha — motion passed).
Board members did not vote on bond propositions themselves at the meeting; the action was limited to calling the election and completing the related interlocal and service agreements.
