Creekside Meadows HOA president urges council to preserve small public right-of-way

Stevensville — Jim Galkopen, president of Creekside Meadows Homeowners Association, told the Stevensville Town Council during public comment on Aug. 14 that a short public right-of-way between the west end of Birch Lane and Second Street is used daily by pedestrians and cyclists and should remain public.
Galkopen said Creekside Meadows HOA members have maintained the strip of right-of-way for about a year and that Creekside owners adjoin the north side of the fence while county property owners live on the south side. He told the council he would hand each council member a copy of a plat that highlights the parcel he described.
“No one should come before this council and try to claim it and take it private,” Galkopen said. He asked the council to keep the piece in public ownership.
The comment was part of general public comment near the start of the meeting; the council did not take action on the matter during the Aug. 14 session. Galkopen said he would give the town a copy of the plat that shows the right-of-way.
