Staff said some manholes were in poor condition and required larger repairs than anticipated. Materials-only costs on High Street were just over $3,000, averaging about $315 per manhole; Sweden Street repairs averaged about $450 per manhole with about $12,000 spent on materials. Staff said individual materials costs ranged from about $123 for a riser to $866 for a complete cone rebuild; these figures exclude labor.
Trustees asked whether the district had budgeted for this level of work; staff said some budgeted amounts existed but not at the level incurred because staff had expected a lighter summer of DOT work. Trustees also discussed city pavement projects: staff said the district completed prep work for roughly 21 in-town streets the city plans to pave, and that a full cost accounting for city work will be available next month and is expected to be less than the DOT work.
Staff said they will protect rebuilt manhole areas from plows this winter if hot-top finishing cannot be completed before snow.
