Board asked to accept $25,000 in school donations, donors’ addresses to be provided on request

Mr. Turnbull presented two donations for committee consideration on Aug. 27: a $15,000 gift to Highland High School from the Davis, New Mexico scholarship (listed in materials) intended to pay for college trips, curriculum materials and SAT preparation, and a $10,000 donation to Manzano High School from James Stevens to pay for items for at-risk students. "This is gonna be used to pay for college trips, college and curriculum materials, and SAT prep," Mr. Turnbull said of the Highland gift; he said the Manzano donation would support at-risk students.
Board member Josefina Dominguez asked whether staff could provide the donors’ mailing addresses to facilitate thank-you notes; staff said addresses are typically on donor checks and that they would provide the information. The committee recommended that the gifts be placed on the consent agenda for full-board acceptance.
