The Tallmadge City Council voted 7-0 on Aug. 28 to confirm Rachel Osborne as clerk of council. "I am excited to be here tonight with you all," Osborne told the council before the vote, listing her current role as assistant clerk-treasurer for the Village of Mogadore, where she has served for just over five years and also previously worked as office manager. Council members moved and seconded confirmation; the roll-call vote recorded "yes" from Jessica Epstein, Donald Pavlik, Tracy Fletcher, Ted Roy, Nick Rubino, Jonathan Bolas and Christine Cipa. The appointment follows the announced retirement of longtime clerk Sue Burton, who served the city for more than 30 years. Mayor Carol Cicillano Kilway and council members thanked Burton during the meeting; Kilway said the recruitment process was bipartisan and thorough and that Osborne emerged from an extensive screening process. Osborne is scheduled to begin Sept. 15. No salary, contract terms or other employment details were discussed on the record at the meeting.
