Revere hires Shay Saint Laurent as deputy principal at Revere High School

The Revere School Committee on Aug. 19 introduced Shay Saint Laurent as the new deputy principal of Revere High School. Dr. Kelly, the district superintendent, said Saint Laurent brings more than 20 years of high school teaching and instructional leadership experience and called her an "ideal partner" to advance Revere's competency-based and personalized learning work.

Why it matters: The appointment places a district leader with experience in curriculum alignment and instructional innovation into a senior role at the high school as the district prepares to open a new high school building in 2028.

Saint Laurent most recently served as director of curriculum and instruction for grades 6–12 in Portsmouth (New Hampshire) Public Schools, where she led curriculum alignment, assessment design, professional development and co-chaired district initiatives including development of a portrait of a graduate and strategic planning. She previously worked in Andover, Massachusetts, as pre-K–12 program coordinator for digital learning and innovation, where she oversaw blended learning and maker programs and coordinated a global pathways program.

"I am super excited to join this team at Revere High School," Saint Laurent said, adding she looks forward to supporting deeper learning and teacher leadership and preparing for the new high school. Dr. Kelly and several committee members welcomed Saint Laurent and noted the district's interest in competency-based learning and personalized pathways.

No formal vote was required for the introduction. The committee's remarks included congratulations and offers of support for the transition.

The committee also noted Principal Bowen (Revere High School) will work with Saint Laurent on school leadership. Saint Laurent attended the meeting with family members, who were acknowledged by the superintendent.
