The Fuquay Varina Town Board voted to approve a zoning map amendment for two lots at 426 and 428 Longfellow Street, changing the designation from Residential Low Density to Town Center Residential.
Planning Director Davidson explained the sites are two lots of record dating to the Lincoln Heights subdivision (1945). Under current rules, each lot could host a single‑family home with reduced setbacks; the rezoning would permit a townhouse development and require specific facade elements such as a covered front entry or porch, glazing in the front door and prohibition of vinyl siding.
Davidson noted the planning board had unanimously recommended approval and recalled previous board actions that postponed a final decision. The petitioner, Mohammed Kayeli, spoke in favor at the public hearing and was present to answer questions. No one spoke in opposition. After the public hearing, a motion to approve the rezoning carried.
