Clever Tiger owner outlines gallery programs, classes and community role on 78621 Live

The Clever Tiger, at 114 Depot Street, opened after a business-planning phase that began in 2017; Smith said the gallery’s grand opening was June 12, 2018. "We started out hyperlocal," Smith said, describing the gallery’s early emphasis on artists who live and work in the area. He said the gallery now hosts solo and group exhibitions and shows emerging and international artists while keeping commission rates low to promote younger artists.
Smith listed regular offerings: sip-and-paint sessions, children’s art classes, cake and cookie-decorating classes with Kelly from Sweet Tooth ATX, jewelry making, metalsmithing and pottery-painting classes. He also described private painting lessons, a podcast studio for rent and an event space available for parties and rentals. "We've always kept our commissions really low, and we've always tried to promote younger artists," Smith said.
Smith described the gallery’s location as "on Depot Street, 114 Depot," between Cutbirth Family Dental and Phoenix Kingdom Acupuncture and across from the park. He invited listeners to follow the gallery’s calendar on Facebook and Instagram and to visit its website: www.theclevertiger.com.
The episode also included personal background Smith attributed to his wife, Ashley, whom he said founded the gallery and wrote the mission statement.
