During the Sept. 3 Committee of the Whole meeting, Blerney County School District No. 2 trustees said they will follow the Wyoming State Board of Education's rule-making on graduation requirements and may adopt a two-part approach locally: an overarching graduation policy and a separate procedure to implement state requirements.
A staff presenter reminded trustees the state proposal remains in public comment and that the district receives notice windows from the Wyoming School Boards Association. Trustees said splitting the district's approach into policy (the district's overarching statement of expectations) and procedure (operational steps tied to state rules) would provide flexibility if the state issues new procedural requirements.
No district decision was made; trustees said they will monitor the state process and consider local policy adjustments when the State Board completes its rule-making.
