At a Sept. 3 special board meeting, the board unanimously approved three personnel motions — employment of staff, acceptance of resignations and transfers of staff — with all voting members present voting in favor. The board had six of seven members in attendance and conducted online voting for the actions.
The motions were read and moved in sequence. "I move that the employment of staff as presented be approved," one board member said before a second was called; votes were entered and "the motion is carried with all board members voting in favor," the meeting facilitator announced. The board then approved a motion to accept staff resignations and a separate motion to approve staff transfers, each carried unanimously.
The only substantive discussion came during the resignation item, when a newer board member asked if there was "any information that's worth sharing or that we need to know about or that stands out about resignations from these three people." A district staff member responding to the question said there was nothing further to share and clarified one detail about the first listed resignation: "The effective date was the June — I apologize — that was a paperwork error, so [the employee] could have been listed earlier this summer. That employee has transitioned to a different role within the district." The staff member added that the curriculum coordinator position is one of the roles housed in the Teaching and Learning department and said, "conversations are absolutely underway relative to navigating that and the need meeting the needs ... so that's being discussed and navigated and planned for, and all options are considered right now." Those staffing-planning remarks were discussion only; no formal direction to hire or fill the curriculum coordinator position was recorded in the meeting minutes.
Each motion was presented as routine personnel business and approved without recorded opposition. The meeting contained three agenda items in total and concluded after the transfer motion was carried.
Details not specified at the meeting included the names of the employees who resigned, any planned hiring timelines or search processes for vacant roles, and any budgetary implications tied to the approved employment or transfers. Board members and staff who reported votes used an online voting system during the meeting, and the facilitator confirmed that all votes had been entered for each motion.
