Council approves Cascade development agreement; staff recommended easement modification included

The Verona Common Council on Aug. 25 approved a development agreement for the Cascade project that includes a staff-recommended modification regarding a future shared path.
Staff said the developer would grant an easement to the city at no cost. In exchange, if the path is ever constructed, the developer’s property would be exempt from any associated costs. City staff told the council the city already has right-of-way from the plat approval and that the path’s construction is uncertain, making the city’s acquisition costs small under the arrangement. The staff recommended the same approach that was taken in a recently approved SSM agreement.
Alderperson Tucker Long moved approval subject to final review by the city administrator; Alderperson Helmke seconded. Council members voted to approve the agreement.
