Council updates leave benefits for battalion chiefs working 48-hour weeks

The Verona Common Council on Aug. 25 approved amendments to Administrative Policy No. 4 to address leave benefits for battalion chief positions that work 48-hour weeks.
Staff said the city’s personnel policy had not been updated when the Verona Fire District converted to the Verona Fire Department in 2014. The amendments adjust vacation, sick, personal and bereavement leave to better reflect the 48-hour schedule for battalion chiefs. The Personnel Committee unanimously recommended the changes.
Alderperson Helmke moved the amendment; Alderperson Weiss seconded. There was no further discussion and the council approved the changes by voice vote.
