City schedules comprehensive-plan open houses Sept. 30; task force meets Sept. 16

Planning staff updated the commission on Sept. 2 about the comprehensive-plan timeline and outreach. The plan task force will meet Sept. 16 to prepare for public events, and the next open houses are scheduled for Sept. 30 with two sessions: 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the senior center and 6–8 p.m. at the library.
Staff said the Sept. 30 events are intended to present draft recommendations and the draft framework for the plan so residents can react before staff and consultants pursue specific directions. "This will be to present the draft recommendations or kind of the framework of the master plan ... so before we kind of go down one or multiple paths, we want to make sure that the public is more or less on board with the ideas that we're presenting," planning staff said.
Commissioners asked whether the meeting will present findings or request further input; staff confirmed the open houses will present findings and solicit feedback to guide next steps.
Organizers encouraged residents to attend either session; the planning department will announce materials and any online ways to participate prior to the open houses.
