Superintendent lays out entry plan, listening tour and four-year strategic timeline

Superintendent Mr. Bishop outlined his entry plan and four superintendent goals Sept. 4, saying this first year will prioritize listening and data collection rather than new initiatives. The four goals are: conduct a strategic entry (listening tour and stakeholder surveys with an entry findings report planned by March), strengthen fiscal systems for equity and efficiency (analysis of three- to five-year budget trends and collaboration with principals), build trusting relationships through improved communication (newsletter, social media, crisis protocol) and develop a shared district vision (administrative council and stakeholder engagement leading to a draft strategic plan by September 2026). Mr. Bishop said the district will continue existing priorities — multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), professional learning communities (PLCs), and culturally responsive practices — rather than add new initiatives this year. Committee members asked about how progress on the strategic plan would be evaluated given local election and evaluation timing; Mr. Bishop agreed to include interim progress measures so that the committee can complete a fair evaluation in the spring. He also noted outreach plans that include community meetings and Zoom sessions to solicit input from families and the broader Hopkinton community.
