City approves $443,100 pavement contract, awards SSM inspection and pays bills totaling $963,630

The Verona City Council on Sept. 8 approved multiple finance and public works items: awarding a pavement and sidewalk contract, approving construction inspection services for a clinic project, and voting to pay bills submitted to the council.
Alder Tucker Long moved to award Project No. 2025-101 (2025 pavement rehabilitation and sidewalk improvements for Edward Street) to Wolf Paving Co. for $443,100; the motion passed by voice vote. Public works staff said Wolf was the low bidder, has completed similar Wisconsin projects and was judged qualified.
The council also approved awarding construction inspection services for the SSM clinic project to Strand, contingent upon final approval by the public works director and city attorney. Public works staff said all fees for inspection services will be the developer's responsibility.
In committee reports, Alder Helmke moved to approve payment of bills totaling $963,630.45. Helmke noted two large invoices in the packet: $308,640 to AECOM for engineering services and $341,701 to the City of Madison for third-quarter Metro services. The motion to pay the bills passed by voice vote.
Councilmembers did not request further changes to either procurement action; each award was described as the low bidder or preferred consultant and subject to standard contingencies and final approvals.
