The Board of Education approved on Aug. 14 the purchase of four used replacement passenger vehicles and the removal of seven older district vehicles from service. Administration said the vehicles to be retired included maintenance trucks with high mileage and older vans used by substitutes, food service and truancy work.
Staff described one maintenance pickup with 313,000 miles, a 2003 Chevy Venture with 249,000 miles, a Chevy Suburban with more than 250,000 miles and other vehicles showing wear. The district will offer surplus vehicles for sale through Rothrock auction once the board adopts a resolution next month to declare them excess property.
Administration proposed buying one used maintenance truck (to replace two old trucks), one used minivan for student travel, and two SUVs (Traverse/Equinox‑type) to replace the Equinox and other minivan. Estimated pricing presented to the board placed a not‑to‑exceed authorization at about $160,000 to cover the four vehicles.
Vote: motion by Jake Anderson; second by Jeff Wilson. Roll call recorded unanimous approval among members present.
