The filing opens a 30-day public-comment period; Egan said filing an exemption generally involves minimal fees, while a full CEQA review and mitigation could be more time-consuming and costly.
A trustee moved to approve resolution 25-26-02 to allow staff to proceed with the exemption filing; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all trustees present voting yes.
Why it matters: CEQA filing begins the public-comment timeline and can expedite routine, low-impact capital work. The board’s action does not itself authorize construction; it simply lets staff begin the environmental-notice process required before moving toward design and permitting.
