Benicia Unified School District staff presented concepts for a fence and entry marquee at Joe Henderson Elementary on Aug. 1, saying the proposal was prompted by repeated staff concerns about students crossing lawns and drive lanes during morning drop-off. The board discussed public-safety goals, alternatives and how the fence would fit with other Measure C projects.
The item was presented by Roxanne Egan, who described a graphic concept and said a temporary fence already up at the site has reduced the behavior the principal identified as a safety risk.
