The Community Development Committee voted Sept. 8 to transfer a city‑owned parcel at the southeast corner of Lake Avenue and Dewey Avenue (parcel 06246510101001) to the Elyria Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) so the CIC can complete a pending sale. Mayor Brubaker said the lot was part of earlier NSP program property the city has maintained; a neighboring homeowner has expressed interest and the CIC has arranged a sale price of $1,500 to convey the parcel to that private owner. The law director clarified the process: the council transfers the parcel to the CIC and any subsequent sale from the CIC to the private buyer will be a separate transaction handled by the CIC. Closing costs above the sale price will be paid by the buyer. Committee members said the transfer will relieve the city of maintenance responsibility for the small lot and give the CIC flexibility to determine the best use; the motion to transfer the parcel was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
