District staff told the Savannah School District Board of Education on Aug. 25 that revenues and cash balances have improved compared with the close of July 2024 and that the district submitted a plan workbook to the Ohio Department of Education, which is now under review.
A presenter reported that revenues were $309,530 higher and expenditures $223,601 lower in the July close; the presenter said the district’s cash balance was "a little over $2,000,000" at the close of July and that current forecasts project the district to close with about $3,500,000 in positive cash. The presenter also said the Ohio Department of Education moved forecast submission dates earlier, meaning the district will file an updated forecast sooner than in prior years.
As part of the meeting’s consent agenda, the board approved the July financial reports. The motion to approve items 11A1 through 11A6, which included the July financial reports, passed by roll call with the following votes recorded: Mrs. Calhoun — yes; Mrs. Dennison — yes; Ms. Dukes — yes; Mrs. Seaman — yes; Mr. Wisniewski — yes.
The presenter said figures will be revised in the next forecast (submitted in September under the new timeline). The board did not take further action on expenditures or on the use of any projected surplus during the meeting.
