Council gives time to three delinquent homeowners, votes to cancel one residential CRA abatement

The Tax Incentive Review Council on Feb. 13 reviewed four residential properties that remained delinquent on property taxes and took two actions: it granted the owners of three properties additional time to become current and voted to terminate the CRA abatement for one property that repeatedly defaulted on payment plans.
Staff told the council property taxes were technically due the next day and that owners might cure delinquencies before the city moved to cancel abatements. The four properties named for review were 301 Broadway, 3424 Magnolia Drive, 3457 Magnolia Drive and 4632 Blush Court. Staff reported that 4632 Blush Court had been on a payment plan but defaulted twice and had been delinquent since February 2022; staff recommended immediate termination of the abatement for that address.
Council members moved to give the owners of 301 Broadway, 3424 Magnolia Drive and 3457 Magnolia Drive an opportunity to become current (staff to review timelines with the law department and consider payment-plan arrangements). The council also moved to terminate the abatement for 4632 Blush Court due to repeated defaults; the motion was seconded and approved.
Staff said they will work with the law department to establish a fair timeline for either payment in full or placement on an approved payment plan before moving forward on termination in other cases.
The council set its next annual meeting date for Feb. 12, 2026, during the same session.
