District 94 to propose updated intergovernmental agreement with District 33 for Pioneer baseball field use

A district staff member told the board District 94 originally entered an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with District 33 on Jan. 16, 2003, to use the baseball field behind Pioneer Elementary for 15 years with District 94 making payments tied to field improvements. Staff said the original payments totaled $300,000 and were made in two installments in 2002 and 2004. Although the formal IGA lapsed after 15 years, District 33 continued to allow District 94 to use the field. Over the past year staff and District 33 worked to revise the agreement. The revised IGA terms reported to the board include a 10-year term, a net payment of $10,000 per year to District 33, mutual use provisions (District 33 may use Bishop Gym for Lehman graduation and other scheduled events at Memorial Stadium), and a right of first refusal for District 94 should District 33 decide to sell the field. Staff said they will request board approval of the revised IGA at the Aug. 19 board meeting. Staff clarified the baseball field is owned by District 33; the softball fields used by the district are owned by the park district, the presenter said. No vote occurred at the Committee of the Whole; the revised IGA will be presented for approval at the August board meeting.
