District summarizes summer construction: roofs, stadium lighting, transition apartment nearing completion

A facilities staff member reported to the board that the construction projects the board approved for summer are either finished or substantially complete and that Allied Facility Partners and architect DLA oversaw the work. Projects listed by staff included an overlayment of the middle roof section, updates to ceiling and lighting in the main hallway, third-floor bathroom renovations, LED stadium lighting installation, a life-skills transition apartment for special-education students, Bishop Gym sanding and painting, and plaster repairs across the building. The facilities presenter said Allied Facility Partners provided project management and that an inspection with the Regional Office of Education was scheduled for Aug. 6. The presenter said most punch-list items have been addressed; the transition apartment still had a few items to finish but was expected to be ready by Friday (staff projected). Allied Facility Partners and DLA were described as having provided effective oversight. A board member noted that an external partner (Saint Charles Hardware) that previously worked with the district’s transition program is closing its operation and will no longer host the retail placement; the board member thanked the store for its prior partnership. The board and administration indicated they plan a ribbon-cutting for the new transition facility and invited board members to tour it once work is complete.
