Community member urges board to examine wave of administrator departures

Gary Saik, a community member, submitted an electronic public comment to the District 94 Board of Education asking the board to examine an “exodus of district administrators” this year and to take a more proactive oversight role. "While it is not unusual to experience turnover in any organization, I would hope the board would take a much deeper look at the reasons for these departures happening all at once," Saik wrote. "It's not normal and it's not healthy for any organization to experience this level of disruption. Stability and institutional knowledge are lost and public confidence is shaken." Saik said community members and former employees had asked him what was happening and urged the board not to "blindly accept overly simplistic answers" before trust is damaged. The board’s public-participation period closed after the district confirmed it had received a single electronic public comment for the meeting. No board response or formal action on the comment was recorded in open session. Board meeting procedure: public participation was limited to five minutes per person with a 30-minute total allotment; when questions or concerns require follow-up, the board said it would direct administration to follow up. The comment was received electronically and entered into the record; the board did not vote or take formal action on the subject during open session.
