The board approved purchase of a 4‑ton KMI hotbox trailer for $70,416 and a Bobcat UW56 toolcat for $92,328.54, both procured via cooperative contracts and under their respective budgets.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved two public‑works equipment purchases Aug. 14, 2025, to support in‑house pavement repairs and grounds maintenance.
Public Works Director Will Wiley presented quotes obtained through cooperative procurement programs. The town accepted a Sourcewell/Infrastructure Solutions Group quote for a KMI 8000TE 4‑ton hotbox trailer and accessories for $70,416.00 — $4,584 under the budgeted $75,000 in the Street Aid Fund. Staff said the hotbox will allow faster permanent asphalt repairs in‑house.
The board also approved purchasing a Bobcat UW56 toolcat with accessories from a Sourcewell cooperative contract for $92,328.54; the equipment is budgeted in the equipment fund and came in under the $100,000 budgeted amount. Staff said both purchases will increase the public‑works team’s ability to respond quickly to potholes and similar pavement concerns without contracting out all repairs.
Both purchases were presented as budgeted items and were approved by the board.
