The Parks and Athletic Council reported Aug. 14, 2025, that it streamlined the annual field allocation process and recommended modest fee increases for field rentals; the board also approved a construction change order to the town’s pickleball complex.
Vice chair Brian Walker said the council helped streamline the allocation process this year, reducing what had been a lengthy multi‑group coordination to a more efficient procedure. The council also recommended fee increases for fiscal year 2026: synthetic turf field rental from $50 to $55 per hour and grass field rental from $25 to $30 per hour.
Separately, staff presented Change Order No. 1 for the pickleball complex. Parks & Recreation Director Ronald Ostreich said the contractor, Baseline Sports Construction, recommended increasing the interior fence height from 3 feet to 4 feet and upgrading the chain‑link fabric from 8‑gauge to 9‑gauge to better support wind screens. The board approved the change order, which will cost an additional $9,163.02; staff said the change keeps the project within the approved budget envelope.
Council and staff said members volunteered widely at recent events and are working on future projects, including curating two new outdoor events and implementing phase 1 of a wayfinding project for the Town Center District.
