City staff report Phase 5 sewer progress, Pike Street trunk line and Route 19 investigation

Public works staff updated the Clarksburg Sanitary Board on multiple sewer projects, saying contractor crews are making “better progress” on downtown Phase 5a and additional crews will begin work on Pike Street and manhole rehabilitation. The staff member reporting said they worked with the contractor to “raise the sewer up a little bit” as crews moved north on Main Street and that a second crew started this week; a third crew is scheduled the week of the 25th to focus on manhole rehabilitation and spot repairs. Pike Street work, described as trunk-line installation for sanitary and storm sewer, was delayed one day because of the gas company but was expected to start the next day. Phase 5b work at the plant is proceeding; staff said a design review with Drew still needs scheduling. Separately, staff said Route 19 critical-needs work was approved by the IGDC, which allows further investigation and the start of design. Because the Route 19 residents are outside city limits, staff said they will notify those residents and coordinate correspondence with the health department; staff also said those residents will be asked to connect to the city system. Staff reported that the Gore senior extension report is being finalized and is expected to be submitted early next month. A task order for line cleaning is anticipated to be presented at the next meeting; staff said that work will be billed time-and-materials and will be routed through the next meeting if costs exceed the present authorization. No formal board action was recorded on these project updates at the meeting.
