The Bandera City Council on Aug. 26 deferred consideration of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) proposed budget after staff said the EDC had not approved the vendor portion of its proposed budget.
Why it matters: The EDC budget must be finalized before the council can approve related allocations; staff said additional meetings or a special session may be needed to complete review.
Details: City staff told the council the vendor budget had not been approved by the EDC and therefore the item could not be approved at this meeting. Staff also reported that Debbie Green resigned as treasurer and had turned over financials; staff are working to complete the EDC materials and expected to have them to council by the end of the month or at the second meeting in September. Staff said they might schedule a special meeting or hold one-on-one budget meetings with council members to accelerate review.
Council direction: Council asked staff to place the EDC's 2025–26 proposed budget on the next agenda and to review cash-rate items at the next meeting. Staff committed to deliver the EDC materials as soon as practicable.
Ending: The EDC budget item will return to the council once the EDC vendor budget is approved and staff complete the packet.
