RIVERTON, Wyo. — The City of Riverton on Aug. 5 awarded a Transportation Alternatives Program (formerly Safe Routes to School) contract for sidewalks linking Riverview Road to Willow Creek Elementary to Alexander Excavation Inc. for $682,849.
Public works staff described the project scope: roughly 1,800 linear feet of curb and gutter, about 1,400 square yards of concrete forming an 8‑foot sidewalk, 620 feet of storm drain pipe, three storm drain inlets, and 400 square yards of concrete valley gutters. The grant application dates to February 2023; the grant covers the majority of the project cost and the city’s match is 9.51 percent.
Staff explained the consultant selection process (James Gores & Associates selected earlier) and the city’s execution of the bid; Alexander Excavation was the single responsive bidder at the bid opening. The project will be advertised and constructed under the grant program’s terms; staff said about $118,000 had already been spent on preliminary work, with the white DOT (grant office) covering $110,000 of that amount.
Council voted to award the contract to Alexander Excavation Inc. Project funding and scheduling will follow normal grant and procurement procedures; staff expects construction after bid award and coordination with the school and county where necessary.
